Robert MORRIS

(born in 1931; lives in New York) has contributed more than any artist of his generation to recent thinking about sculpture. Associated with the « minimal » aesthetic from its beginnings, he has moved on to « anti-form ». Following experiments with choreography and film-making, he has given the museum telephone instructions for a movie to be made of a shirtless muscular man colliding with a glass door. The movie, which is projected in slow motion, demonstrates the impact of the muscles flattening as they hit the glass. The film, Morris explains, « has nothing to do with my holding the camera »

Le film, qui est projeté au ralenti, montre l’impact des muscles s’applatissant lorsqu’ils entrent en contact avec la vitre. Le film, Morris explique, « n’a rien à voir avec le fait que je tienne la camera. »
